To Master League and Beyond with Archers

Tips and Strategy

By: Scottyfunda

First of all I'd like to give a big shoutout and thanks to Haakan aka Noobs Revenge aka H the Terrible for making this all possible as well as Bryce aka Marine_Madness for some helpful editing

For starters I cannot guarantee champion unless you have ALL of the following with no exceptions, Town hall level 10, 4 maxed army camps, maxed spell factory, lightning spell level 5+, clan castle level 5, and most importantly maxed arch. I can't stress enough that any other buildings besides those DO NOT MATTER if you are looking purely for cups. Even with maxed defense's at the champion level you will lose every time on defense. The key is to gain at least 30 once your shield runs out before you log out to go on defense. This will ensure that even if you get beat for 15 cups on defense you are still in the green for cups gained on that day.

Being that I know it's not realistic to have everyone with all the above buildings leveled and maxed those of you with town hall 9 can still make it to master 3 with ease and even up to master 1. For this to be possible the following will be needed to ensure maximum results. Town hall 9, All 4 camps maxed(220 spaces), spell factory maxed (4 spaces), clan castle level 4+ (25 spaces), lightning level 4+ (preferably level 5) and again the most important thing MAXED ARCH. (Lv 5 Archers will get them to Master 3, but not Champion) None of this is possible without maxed arch so please do your best to at least get those. Do not fear if you don't have all of the following listed above, I reached master 3 with only 205 spaces in my army camps.

Preparation for attack

Let's get started, first things first. Train and fill camps with all archers, fill spell factory will all lightning spells, fill clan castle with all arch (some people will use arch/wiz or a pekka but I prefer all arch with the occasional wizard thrown in) make sure you are requesting for max arch as well. Make sure king and queen are fully healed as well before attacking. (It goes without saying the higher level your king and queen, the better chance you will be more successful. Do NOT jump the gun and attack without all of the above filled, I did and I lost many many times at 49%. Patience and dedication is key. You will lose but learn from your losses. I want to see everyone posting their losses just as much as their wins if not more. Those of us that have this technique down cannot teach you without first seeing your flaws so please do not hesitate to post all of your losses and ask for advice.

The cc setups will also affect what you're looking for when nexting. Breaking up examples will assist everyone in allowing some customization to their playing style. 1) 30 x Archers
2) 7 x Wizards & 2 x Archers
3) 1 x Pekka & 1 x Wizard, 1 x Archer/Barbarian 1 x Pekka & 5 x Archers/Barbarians
Please Note the stats below as it shows why Barbs are listed. They have a growing trend in popularity in the cc as fillers since Archers take 5 shots from a Max X Bow, while Barbs take 11. Max Teslas 1 shot Archers, but take 3 shots to down a Max Barbarian.

The use of Barbs over Archers depends on if you're trying to shoot over walls or rush them to a defended building for that precious 1- 2%. The Pekka received a significant boost with this last update and its use also varies on your preference. I recommended it to Haakan as it had worked wonders for me.

My personal strategy was to drop this either at the beginning to tank hits if there were a lot of defenses on the perimeter, or if it is a deep base, I'd drop the Pekka & Barb King at the same time with a Rage Spell. The combo acted as a 1-2 punch of Wall Breaking & Wrecking to get to the 2nd layer of the base for the 1-2%. Haakan found that dropping the Pekka near the 3rd Mortar or near a Wiz Tower distracted them long enough for the Archers to do their job.

Max X Bows 80 dps / 10 per shot
Max Teslas 87 dps / 52 per shot

Max Barbs 110 HP
Max Archers 44 HP

If you have 5 spells in the Spell Factory, another option is to pack 4 Lightning & 1 x Rage Spell.

Attacking

For everyone below crystal 2, I highly recommend town hall hunting to help boosts cups quickly, everyone can easily get to crystal by town hall hunting, but make sure to practice the full arch attack along the way, losses at lower cups are easier to swallow than losses in the master league and above.

When looking to attack someone there are some critical things to look at

1. Where are the majority of the buildings located?

For this strategy to work you will need to destroy 50% of all the buildings which is approximately 38 building (for a TH lvl 10). I make sure all the resource pumps are outside of the walls, if they are not, I normally just next the attack.

TH8 = 28 buildings for 50% - This is assuming 2 Builder Huts. Add 1 -3 for each extra builder hut.
TH9 = 32 buildings for 50% - This is assuming 2 Builder Huts. Add 1 -3 for each extra builder hut.
TH10 = 35 buildings for 50% - This is assuming 2 Builder Huts. Add 1 -3 for each extra builder hut.

2. Location of the wizard towers

If the wizard towers are on the outermost layer of their walls, I next the attack, wizard tower tear archers apart so you will want to avoid them.

3. King and queen

I've found that it is easiest to just avoid villages that have a king and queen awake. It's much easier to attack a village when they are not running around chopping your troops up. You'd be surprised how many villages will have the K/Q either asleep or healing when you start to look for it.

4. Levels of defense

Don't be afraid of attacking max defensed villages, max archers are much stronger than you think especially when you have 220-240 of them. For now though, until you start to climb the master league, you will be able to find bases that are low level defense, so focus your attacks there.

5. Amount of cups available for taking

Uuntil I reached master 1, I only looked for and attacked bases with 28 or more cups available. This allows you to gain at least 8-11 cups an attack. (Preferably looking for 30+ cups every time). It is easy to get lured by a base with godly loot available. DO NOT TAKE THE BAIT IF YOU ARE SEEKING CUPS. More often than not, its deceptively well guarded and you will find yourself at 48 or 49%. Players at this level purposely expose enough buildings to nab themselves a cheap shield and a win for 40-49%.

Laying Out the Attacks

1. Drop the lightning on the two mortars that will be causing you the most trouble, if the mortars are not going to affect you at all then hold on to the lightning, you may need them to drop on a builders hut or king/queen base for an extra 1-5%.

2. Next you will drop your full clan castle at the opposite end of where their clan castle is.

3. Starting at a corner of their base hold your fingers down and drag/release your archers around their base (slowly) ensuring there are no gaps between the archers.

4. Immediately drop your king and queen away from where their CC comes out or where there are still buildings standing on the outsides of their walls. Use the queen first to use her ability, then the king to avoid direct attack on the king. Then watch hulk smash with the kings ability.

5. Once you get to 50% I suggest quitting so you can prevent longer heal times on your king and queen. Unless you KNOW that you can nab that extra star, this is critical.

Gems

- If you are against gems that is fine, you will still be able to reach these rankings without them however 5, 10 or even 20$ will speed your attacking up immensely. You only need to boost the spell factory which is 10 gems per boost. This way you are only waiting 30 minutes for 5 spells instead of waiting 2 hours. The only other things you would need to gem are your king and queen healing spells if they are high enough level. If the king and queen will be healed before 30 minutes then there is no need to boost the healing. There is no reason to boost barracks training time because all the archers will be done training before the spells are finished.

I know all this seems like a lot to grasp but it will get easier as you practice.
Make sure to share your attacks, good and bad, so the clan can learn from each other.

Tips & Trick For Beginners

10:38 PM Posted by Unknown No comments

1. TROPHIES

One thing that I kind of find important is trophies when you start out(Loot is important too) WHY?: The more trophies you have, the higher rank you are, the higher rank you are, the tiny bit harder foes you face (Maybe.) With that, if you find someone who has pretty nice leveled pumps and mines full, MORE CASH FO U. But, I would hold of a little bit with the trophies once you get to the silver league. That way, you can hold off on facing the harder guys, still get loot, and prepare for the gold league.

2. BUILDERS HUT

Might sound like a stupid tip but it's not. If you have 2 builders huts, place them on 2 opposite corners of the map. WHY?: 1 reason is because if the person doesn't see them AND, he maxes out your base, it can mean the difference between 2 stars and 3 and sometimes even losing 16 trophies rather than 24 or 23.

3. DETECTING A GOOD BASE

One key thing to do is MAKE GOOD DECISIONS. WHY?: If you see a guys with 90k gold and elixir, don't just raid him, you got to do 2 things:

1. Check out were his loot is (Pumps and mines, storage(s), or both)
2. Check out his base

I will tell you how to detect where his loot in the next tip.

You don't want to raid some guy with 90K of elixir and gold if it's in his storages and he's like a town hall 9 with a pretty maxed out base(Some people gem really early).

Here is my chart to calculate a good raid:

Base Loot in storages Loot in pumps and mines Raid
Good Yes Yes It's a risk. But, yet only raid if he
he has like 100k because it can turn
out that he has like 40 or 50k in his
pumps.
Good Yes No Raid at your own risk.(Otherwise,
Don't)
Good No Yes Go for it! Even if you lose trophies
Bad Yes Yes Check his placement of towers
and see if u can plan out a good
raid. But I would do it.
Bad No Yes Definitely go for it!
Bad Yes No I would check how much loot he has.
If he has more than 50K go for it.

4. WHERE IS DA LOOT: DETECTING WHERE THE LOOT IS

Another key thing about raiding is knowing where the loot is.

PUMPS:

In every elixir pump there is always a clear center (In which you can see). But,if it has loot in it, you will see purple liquid in the center of the collector. It has different stages. But, if the guy has like 100k loot, I would raid him if his collectors are more than half way full

MINES:

There are 2 ways. 1, if the elixir pumps are full, infer that the mines are going to be that full. 2, in every mine stage, there is a little box in the right hand corner of the mine. If it's full, it has a decent amount of cash, if it's not, it's useless.

STORAGES:

Really easy to tell. For both gold and elixir, the more of it there is, the more gold it has.

5. REVENGING

Revenging is pretty cool for many reasons. First, you can technically plan out your raid if you visit the guys base before raiding. And, you can check how many troops are in his clan castle, if he has one. And, you can do it for free! 1 thing that I find kind of funny is those people who gem and attack you. Yeah, just revenge them when the time is right (Pumps and mines are pretty full) And get DA CASH!

I hoped my guide helped you! Rate it what you think of it and I will soon come out with more!

The Keys to Winning Clan Wars

10:35 PM Posted by Unknown No comments

The Keys to Winning Clan Wars :

1. Develop a war oriented clan!

Make sure potential applicants know that your clan takes wars seriously. Post it in the clan info, and brief new members on your expectations of them when they join.

2. Encourage Each Clan Member to 'Earn' Their Spot in Upcoming Wars

If your clan numbers are not a multiple of 5, there will always be at least one person (at the bottom) left out. This encourages players to push for a few more trophies, so that they can be included in the next war- and players that are pushing trophies are practicing. Which leads us to our next tip.

3. Encourage Clan Members to Practice Attacking!

Keep an eye on the number of attacks won in each player's profile. If a player is not winning attacks, and not earning stars in wars, then it may be time for a heart-to-heart.

4. Keep Track of Success / Failure From War to War

I've found that keeping a spreadsheet of war results is very helpful, especially since war details only remain in the log for two wars. It's important to see if there are any members that are consistently not using one or both of their attacks and consistently failing to win any stars in wars.

5. Reward Success!

Those who are especially heroic/successful on the war battlefield should be recognized for it! Either with promotions, names in the clan info for a day, a clan e-mail, or simply mentioning it in clan chat. A little positive reinforcement can go a long way.

6. Don't Punish Failure

Do your best NOT to put too much pressure on clan members to win attacks in war. The addition of the war log has made many players much more nervous when attacking. Knowing that all of your clan members can see what happens, whether you choose so share the replay or not, can be distressing. Encourage your members simply to TRY, win or lose. You can see if they truly care about attacking by watching for improvement and total attacks won in their profile each season.

7. Coordination is Key

If a clan member has failed on an attack on a particular opponent, encourage others to watch the replay for information that could help them, should they choose to tackle the same opponent next. At the very least, they should be able to see where the bombs, traps, and Teslas are, as well as know what to expect from the Clan Castle.

8. Bring Specialized Armies

The one HUGE advantage to Clan Wars versus regular battles is the fact that you know which base layout you will be attacking before you begin. This way, you can create the perfect troop composition for the attack, based upon things like wall levels, defensive structure placement, Clan Castle troop selection (from #7), Heroes' level, and X-Bow and Inferno Tower settings.

9. Max Your NSPA (New Stars Per Attack)

Strongly encourage clan members NOT to attack a village that has already been one-starred, until ALL villages have received at least one star.

10. Encourage Members to Attack the Strongest Opponent They Feel Comfortable With

The Clan War will always give a 'suggested opponent", but this isn't always the best strategy. This is especially true in clans where not all members have the same level troops or Town Hall.

Also, certain members may feel much more comfortable attacking a specific type layout than another. Confidence is a key towards victories!

11. Start Wars When Much of the Clan is Online

By doing this, you create a positive, war-oriented atmosphere. As the war starts, members' excitement builds, and they are eager to step out on the battlefield and win some stars for the clan! Which leads us to the next tip...

12. Build an Early, Demoralizing Lead (if possible)

Jumping out to a huge lead in stars won can often demoralize the opposing clan! If they see they are far, far behind, their attacks may be lackluster, or they may not even complete many of their attacks.

13. Make Sure Members are Using Their Attacks

Encourage clan members to let leadership know if they are going to be unavailable during a clan war. That way, they can temporarily drop from the clan during the Clan War selection process, and allow other active players to participate. You can't win a star if you don't attack! It's better to have an overmatched player give it a try than to have a higher level player simply not use his or her attacks.

Another helpful way to ensure this is to build a way for members to contact each other outside of the game. The mobile applications 'Line' or 'Kik' work well for this.

14. Make Sure the Clan Castles are Filled Properly

If at all possible, make sure all clan castles are filled with the highest level troops possible. If this means only a few of your top members will be filling clan castles, encourage them to do so.

15. Scout, Scout, Scout

Use preparation day! Take this 24 hours to have players look over the opponents' bases, and discuss strategies in clan chat! Be specific. "Do you think GoWiWi would work well on #18, if I came from the bottom right?" Collaborate with other members to create a winning troop mix and plan of attack.

16. Look for Similar Bases

-Often an opposing clan will have several members with exactly the same village layout (or very similar). Once one has been defeated, the replay can be used as a reference for all other clan members.

If you employ these techniques and suggestions, you will likely see much more success in clan wars, and your clan should have more fun warring, as well!

5 Quick Tips to Improve Your Clash of Clans Experience

10:34 PM Posted by Unknown No comments

5 Quick Tips to Improve Your Clash of Clans Experience:

1. Don't Rush Your Town Hall

Although it used to be said that you need to upgrade all of your buildings to maximum before upgrading your town hall, this isn't necessarily true. Waiting for buildings to upgrade can take FOREVER- and saving up enough to purchase the upgrades can often leave you a prime target for farming raids. Instead, consider attempting to maximize your wall levels each time before you upgrade, and work your way to Town Hall 7. For many, Town Halls 7 and 8 are considered the best spots for farming and making defensive upgrades. Once here, you can spend your gold wisely and work on upgrading your other structures. It is generally considered a good idea to fully upgrade all of your defensive structures before upgrading your Town Hall past level 8.

2. Choose Your Battles Carefully

Don't be afraid to hit that 'Next' button! Sometimes passing just a few villages will land you on a perfect candidate for your army composition and ability. Remember, each 'Next' costs a little more at each Town Hall level, but it can be well worth it when you land on your first six figure payday.

3. Upgrade your highest damage structures first

Defensive structures that damage multiple targets at once (Wizard Towers, Mortars) should be at the top of the list for upgrades. Next, look at the amount of damage per second (DPS) that the other structures do. Usually a good third choice is your Teslas, which do a great deal of damage as they are upgraded.

4. Join a helpful clan, and learn from them

Watch replays, ask questions, and share knowledge when you can. It's part of what makes Clash of Clans so much fun to play.

5. Last but not least, ENJOY the game

Get what you want out of it. If you like raiding others' gold storages for every coin you can, go for it. If it's trophies you want, chase them down! Find a clan and friends with similar goals.

5 Quick Tips for Clan Wars | Clash of Clans

9:12 AM Posted by Unknown No comments

Clan Wars are the new hotness in Clash of Clans. Winning Clan Wars takes some different strategies from your normal base raids, though. If you’re having trouble getting stars for your clan in Clan Wars, you should check out this article! I’ll share 5 quick tips for Clan Wars that are sure to make you a Clan Wars pro in no time.

#5: Know Your Goal

The goal in Clan Wars is simple – stars. You need to get stars in order to win. Resources don’t matter at all. This can be a difficult thing to deal with, as most of the raiding you do in Clash of Clans is generally focused on resource raiding rather than for acquiring trophies. Thus, you’ll want to adapt your strategies accordingly.
Remember what you get stars for:
  1. Destroying the enemy Town Hall
  2. Destroying 50% of the base
  3. Destroying 100% of the base
Most mid-level bases don’t have enough walls to protect all of their buildings. Thus, it can be pretty easy to get just one star on an attack – a lot of the buildings will be located in underprotected areas, or even out at the edges where nothing is defending them.
Usually people will outfit their war bases so their Town Hall is at the center of their base. Thus, it tends to be the second easiest star to get. If you can manage to get into the center of the base, it’s generally yours.
Clash of Clans Clan War Tips: Town Hall!
Common Mistake! I see a lot of people get 75% or more damage to a base without getting a second star. Usually this means you trashed more of the base than you needed to in order to hit the town hall. Most troops will attack whatever is closest, and those that have a preferred target don’t tend to target town halls. Strategic troop dropping is key. What I try to do is drop troops so that I create a “wedge” into their base, stripping a slice of their base to the studs. Then I can drop some ranged units (like archers) so that their closest target is the town hall. This means you’re going to have to save some troops until late in the fight, but when every star counts it can help a lot.
Finally, completely crushing an opponent will net you that third and final star. This can be tricky to do, since the game tends to match clans at approximately the same power level. Thus, the chances that you will completely outmatch your opponent are relatively low unless you’re the most powerful person in your clan.
Pro Tip Time is not on your side during a raid, especially if you are trying to go for 100%. I’ve seen attacks fail to destroy everything due to a lack of time, and I’ve also been in situations where I would have destroyed a Town Hall and gotten an extra star if I’d had a few more seconds. Make sure your strategy is fast enough to win!

#4: War Base Management

The War Base is just a copy of your normal base by default. It’s important that you customize the layout of your war base, especially to protect your Town Hall. You’re likely to be up against at least a few players who are significantly higher level than you, and chances are they have access to troops that you normally wouldn’t see attacking your base.
I also suggest creating zones for your defenses. Don’t put all your mortars inside the same wall, for instance. This leaves you vulnerable to Giant assaults. You should also carefully place air defenses so that all the possible routes into the center of your base are covered. Otherwise, it may be possible for a smart attacker to send air units past some of your more challenging defenses in order to take your Town Hall or critical defensive structures out with ease.
While you’re setting up your War Base, you can also request troops to defend it. Unlike troops you request from your clan normally, these troops are not used up when your War Base is raided. They will defend your Clan Castle repeatedly, even if they are defeated in previous raids. Also remember that you can kick out troops from your War Base’s Clan Castle if they’re not what you want.

#3: Scout Early & Call Your First Attack

During preparation day, you can view the enemy bases. The best thing you can do is to pick your top bases to raid. Once you’ve done this, let your clan know. Make sure everyone has a unique target for their first raid.
Remember that only the best attack against a given base counts. Thus, if you and another clanmate both decide to use your first attack on the same enemy, chances are good that stars are going to go to waste.
Scouting early also allows you to plan your attacking forces and request the appropriate troops for your clan castle to use during the raid.
Sometimes it helps to plan out your attack during preparation day, train up the troops you plan to use, and then find a base like the one you plan to raid and test out your strategy. Did you manage to break enough buildings for 1 star? Did you manage to get to their town hall? If not, you might have to rethink your troop mix or your attack strategy.

#2: Check the Replay

Once everyone’s done their first raid, it’s a good time to take a step back and see what your next target should be. Again, calling your second target early is a good idea, so everyone knows where you’re planning to invest your second attack.
Clash of Clans Clan Wars Tips: Check the Replay!
The most powerful thing you have at your disposal is the replay from the best attack against each base. Remember that the enemy can no longer make changes to their War Base or their Clan Castle, so whatever traps and troops you see in the replay are what you’re going to get during your second attack. You can often find out where their Hidden Teslas are, for instance.
If you see some powerful Clan Castle troops, you might change up your strategy somewhat to deal with them.

#1: Clan Wars Raids Require Different Strategies

Normally when raiding for resources, the cost of your army is an important concern. You might use spells, Giants and Wall Breakers sparingly, for instance, since they’re so expensive. The rewards in Clan Wars are much greater, even if the base is relatively weak. Plus, you’re benefiting the entire clan with every star you earn. Thus, the price of your army is a lot less important. Go all out!
Enemy Clan Castle troops can ruin your raid. Usually in regular raiding, finding a full Clan Castle is a bit unusual. In Clan Wars, though, Clan Castle troops are all but guaranteed. It’s also likely that they’re going to come from the most well-developed base in the Clan War. The Clan Castle has a large attack radius, so it’s possible to “sucker” them out and into a part of the map where you can deal with them more easily. Once they’ve left the Clan Castle, these troops will head towards your attacking forces, regardless of where they are on the map.
Common Mistake! It takes time to get all the troops out of the Clan Castle. If there are a lot of them, and you send a single, easily killed troop in to lure them out, you might not get all of them out on the first try. I also see a lot of people use the wrong troops or in the wrong configuration to fight a Clan Castle troop formation. For instance, Wizards do splash damage. Grouping up your troops to attack Clan Castle Wizards is not particularly effective.
For instance, say there’s a mortar tower in a critical area and you’ve got 2 lightning spells ready to take it out. If you drop one troop within the Clan Castle radius and get the Clan Castle troops to chase that guy over top of the mortar tower, you can lightning both the troops and the mortar at once, doubling up on your damage output!

Maintain Trophies while farming

8:38 AM Posted by Unknown No comments

                     Maintain Trophies while farming

People often don't want to farm because they think they'll lose trophies. I beg to differ. I have been farming for the past 2-3 months without even moving down a league. Here's how... 1. Avoid big attacks-You are going to lose at least 20 trophies in defence everyday, so when you log in your goal shouldn't be to win big battles, as you might lose trophies in the process. Too long didn't read: Go for the farming bases with the town halls at the dead corner as these usually don't have traps. 2. Use low cost armies-WAIT!!! This doesn't mean you can unleash a goblin army because it is cheap. You're goal is to get more trophies, so use armies consisting of troops like Barbarians and Archers. Too long didn't read: Use archers as this is the most ideal troop. Don't try to increase trophies: When you trophy push you are going to lose money which will make farming a waste of time, unless you are farming only gold. Too long didn't read: Don't trophy push; just try to bring back your old trophies. Pro tip: Take revenge on your attacker as he too might be farming. Hope this helps, MadHari

10 Tips for Successful Farming

8:37 AM Posted by Unknown No comments

                     10 Tips for Successful Farming

1- Place all your Gold, Elixir & Dark Elixir storages in the center.
2- Protect the storages with defensive structures and traps ( preferably starting with Mortars & Air defensive structures near the center and going from there outwards ).
3- Place the Town Hall at the edge of the map so that it would be solely targeted and you will get a 12-hour shield leaving the rest of the buildings -including the storages- untouched.
4- Place few defensive structures near the peripherally located Town Hall ( Preferably : Hidden Teslas, Barbarian king, Archer Queen or traps and bombs ) so as not to allow the enemy troops to advance further beyond the Town Hall.
5- When searching for an enemy to attack, look for high available loots while concentrating on finding Gold, Elixir or Dark Elixir drills that are filled up ( that if you are not holding up to your trophies that much ) .
6- Don't waste time and resources on creating expensive troops for fast and lucrative looting ( deploy cheap troops e.g. Archers or Barbarians applying tip 5 )
7- Lightning Spells could be helpful when applied on enemy dark elixir storage ( Although not that time or cost effective in general )
8- Make sure you fill up your clan castle with donated troops from your clan mates before logging off ( They defend the resources esp. if placed in the center ).
9- Try to upgrade your defensive structures esp. walls to surround the storages ( if walls aren't all upgraded, place the highly upgraded walls around the storages as a priority ).
10- Always keep your builders working . Once you reach the amount of resources you need to upgrade a certain building or unit, DO IT !! Don't wait or your loots will be lost in attacks
